Performances at the Museum: Black Composers Throughout History

Driftwood Quintet will take you on a musical journey as they trace the history and musical trends of black composers throughout time. The concert will open with a piece from one of the earliest known black composers Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799) and end with a performance of LA-based composer Corey Dundee's Special Ops. which took the grand prize in the 2013 Calefax Reed Quintet International Composition Competition. Other composers being featured are Afro-British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and the Harlem Rennaissance composer William Grant Still.
